The Citizens’ Archive of India is an initiative of Arkheia Foundation, a Section 8 not-for-profit company. We can only accept donations from Indian citizens and corporates, and are registered to receive CSR contributions under the Companies Act, 2013. Donations to CAI are eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

Who can donate to the archive?

We can only accept donations from Indian citizens and corporates, and are registered to receive CSR contributions under the Companies Act, 2013. The Citizens’ Archive of India is an initiative of Arkheia Foundation, a Section 8 not-for-profit company, and donations to CAI are eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

Will I get a tax deduction on my donations, and by when?

Donations made by tax-paying Indian Citizens to Arkheia Foundation qualify for 50% tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. We will send you an 80G certificate to the email address you have provided within ten working days of receiving your donation. Please note that a valid PAN and email are required to issue Form 10BE to claim your 80G benefit.

As an OCI/PIO cardholder, can I donate to the Citizens’ Archive of India?

No, we cannot accept donations from foreign nationals, including holders of OCI and PIO cards. Foreign passport holders residing in India are also not eligible to donate.

Can Indian nationals donate in foreign currencies (US dollars, pounds, etc.)?

Yes, Indian nationals can use international currency-based credit/debit cards to donate. Please reach out to us at donate@citizensarchiveofindia.org with a copy of your valid Indian passport if you wish to donate in a foreign currency.

Do you accept offline donations?

For offline donations via cheque or NEFT, you can write to donate@citizensarchiveofindia.org, and we will help you with the account details.

Will I receive a report on how my donation is being used?

We know this is your hard-earned money, and we use it responsibly. We will share an annual report on how your money is helping us preserve and disseminate the country’s history on our website, and email it to you on the email ID you provided us when you made your donation.

How do I contact the Citizens’ Archive of India regarding my donation?

For more details or any further assistance, please email donate@citizensarchiveofindia.org. with the subject line ‘Regarding my donation’. We respond to emails within two working days.

Why do I need to share my ID details (such as a PAN card)?

We require your PAN to comply with the Income Tax Act, 1961 and other laws applicable to us. As per Government regulations, recipient organisations must maintain records of donors’ tax identity.

Will my donation be acknowledged?

Absolutely! We are grateful for all the help we receive, and will acknowledge you as a donor on our website. You can see our list of donors here.

How do I make an anonymous donation?

As per Government regulations, recipient organisations must maintain records of donors’ tax identity. Therefore, we cannot accept anonymous donations. However, if you would like to remain anonymous in our acknowledgements, please let us know.
